We got in four buoy races as the winds went from heavy to light on a cool sunny day on the Gulf. – – – – – –
Fort Myers, Florida – The sailing club with the unusual name – Caloosahatchee Marching & Chowder Society (CMCS) – began celebrating a milestone achievement on Saturday. Their annual Change of Watch Banquet was held January 11th at the Marina at Edison Ford with live entertainment from The Pitbull of the Blues band and kicked off […]
The Club’s Thanksgiving cruise is in the books. Cabbage Key fed 27 of us in fine fashion. The food was delicious. Weather couldn’t have been better. Warm days and cool nights. We shared snacks on the beach two evenings and one on Chase the Clouds. Plenty of time for beach walking and hanging out to […]
We had a great event for the third 2019 – 2020 Boat of the Year Event. The first race of the season is always Summerset, but then there was a race down in Naples in late October and then we (CMCS) host the Festival of the Islands. By the way – for anyone interested – […]
What a great weekend with fantastic weather and a terrific turnout for the 54th annual Summerset Regatta! 53 boats participated, either racing or cruising throughout the weekend of October 4-6. Hundreds of sailors celebrated together at the Friday Captain’s Party at Bonita Bill’s, the Saturday Cocktail Party at Nauti Parrot and the Sunday Awards Banquet […]
Ladies bridge club went to Mote Aquarium two times in the month of May. Both occasions were great and included water ski show. We will see you in the Fall when Ladies Bridge Club will do a water School tour.
While this is not a CMCS Event, our members have been invited to attend.
Everyone was scored as one class as we only had six boats racing. You can easily see the results by class if you choose. But still a great day on the water. We ended up running four races with a nice tight course.
What a great day on the water! Races were fun, competitive and at times, plenty of wind. And then the after party. I just feel sorry for all the people that didn’t come. Beer, Wings, Shrimp. And then lots of great conversation! The official results are as follows and the details are attached. Help the […]
To All that attended the Festival of the Islands Race! First I want to thank Bob and Bev Duff, Glen Vetter, and the crew on the Committee Boat! These events do not happen without them. And then a BIG thank you to Amy Gallagher and Paula Vetter for getting the after party organized. PERFECT! It […]
We had a Spooktacular time at South Seas for Halloween. Most of us spent Friday afternoon in the beautiful resort pool overlooking Redfish Pass relaxing with tropical drinks from the Twisted Snook Tiki Bar. Life is Good! South Seas gave us use of the Captain’s Lounge for the weekend so we had a great Happy […]
Fifty-three years ago, some local sailors placed a classified ad in the local newspapers looking for “Anyone interested in racing sailboats from Fort Myers Beach to Naples”. That first race led to an annual event that sailors in SW Florida look forward to – known as the Summerset Regatta, and the birth of the racing […]
Friday, September 14th, 7 cruisers made their way in calm conditions to South Seas Island Resort for the Kayusa Cup Race/South Seas Cruise. Sea Change, AirBoss, Windstar, Ranger, Lazy Susan, and Salty Soul all arrived in time to enjoy a couple of hours at the pool after receiving our free Rum Punch as we checked […]
It was standing room only Tuesday night as nearly 200 boaters and concerned residents met at the Cape Coral Yacht Club to discuss the ongoing algae problems in the Caloosahatchee River and a red tide that’s lingered off the coast since November. The Caloosahatchee Marching and Chowder Society held a panel discussion with experts from […]

The Tuesday night April Membership Meeting & Grill Night rocked! Mother Nature blessed us with a breezy warm day so the temperature in the CCYC Pavilion was perfect. Our skilled set-up crew came out early and flexed their muscles as we had to move a lot of tables around! Wrestling with the “fresh breeze” to […]
Sails, Scholarships, Sydney, & Sales Edison Sailing Center has been the sailing equivalent of the Energizer Bunny the first quarter of 2018! We have much to share with you: many of you met Sydney Monahan at the December meeting. Sailor-Daughter of multihull sailor Art Monahan (& Denise), Sydney’s journey along the sailing continuum continues to […]
Great first half of the race! Second half a little slow and the finish, a little wet! My committee on the RC boat had a lovely afternoon under the canvas watching the boats come in. We had 12 registered and 10 finish the race. Great after party at our new adopted club house at […]
So the results are in. We had a lovely race with an incredibly competitive fleet (at least for the front four boats). Here is a snap shot. Eroica managed to pull off a first, but if you look at the details, it was by a corrected time of only 46 seconds in the first race, […]
Thank you to Bev and Bob Duff for leading the EPOL cruise. They really know how to throw a party. The Oyster feast was great and we had as many boats as space would allow. Oysters were locally procured, tasted great, and we had just the right amount. A few hearty souls wandered over to […]
Ahoy Ladies! On Tuesday December 5th the annual Ladies Bridge Club Christmas Party was held at Cathy Friedel’s home. The festivities began at 7:00 pm with 26-members participating. This was the largest number of participants we’ve had in the past few years. As a variety of wines, beers and soft drinks began to flow, there […]
Thanks to Carolyn Wilson and Dan Green for hosting parties in the Captain’s Lounge at Fisherman’s Village Marine, and helping our club ring in 2018. The pictures come from the cruise’s first stop at Pelican Bay. . . . . . . .
