Sails, Scholarships, Sydney, & Sales Edison Sailing Center has been the sailing equivalent of the Energizer Bunny the first quarter of 2018! We have much to share with you: many of you met Sydney Monahan at the December meeting. Sailor-Daughter of multihull sailor Art Monahan (& Denise), Sydney’s journey along the sailing continuum continues to […]
Great first half of the race! Second half a little slow and the finish, a little wet! My committee on the RC boat had a lovely afternoon under the canvas watching the boats come in. We had 12 registered and 10 finish the race. Great after party at our new adopted club house at […]
So the results are in. We had a lovely race with an incredibly competitive fleet (at least for the front four boats). Here is a snap shot. Eroica managed to pull off a first, but if you look at the details, it was by a corrected time of only 46 seconds in the first race, […]
Thank you to Bev and Bob Duff for leading the EPOL cruise. They really know how to throw a party. The Oyster feast was great and we had as many boats as space would allow. Oysters were locally procured, tasted great, and we had just the right amount. A few hearty souls wandered over to […]
Ahoy Ladies! On Tuesday December 5th the annual Ladies Bridge Club Christmas Party was held at Cathy Friedel’s home. The festivities began at 7:00 pm with 26-members participating. This was the largest number of participants we’ve had in the past few years. As a variety of wines, beers and soft drinks began to flow, there […]
Thanks to Carolyn Wilson and Dan Green for hosting parties in the Captain’s Lounge at Fisherman’s Village Marine, and helping our club ring in 2018. The pictures come from the cruise’s first stop at Pelican Bay. . . . . . . .
Every month the Ladies Bridge Club tries to do something nautical in our wonderful backyard in Southwest Florida. On November 8, CMCS members & a photographer from the Naples Daily news met at Ostego Bay Marine Science Center located on San Carlos Island just across the street from Bonita Bill’s. We started with a movie […]
As we do every year – the Society sets up a booth at Fort Myers Boat Show!
A good number of our CMCS members volunteered over the weekend as Edison Sailing Center hosted River Romp – Junior Olympic sailing regatta in the Caloosahatchee. There were almost 150-sailors from Southern Florida, ranging in ages eight through his school. The kids had terrific weather the whole weekend for fast and challenging sailing. Attach are […]
We had near perfect weather, which meant two spectacular days of sailing! Go to the Summerset Regatta Website for: Race Results The Drone Video The Best Sponsors in Southwest Florida
Ahoy Gypseas!!! This is the second year Bob and I have hosted the Gypseas in Paradise cruise and we had a great time! Fortunately, unlike last year, the weather didn’t interfere with our plans and most cruisers were able to arrive on Friday. Current in the Gordon River was especially strong due to recent rains. […]
Greetings Y’all! Well, I think we had a great time at the CMCS Summer Picnic at the Yacht Club on July 29! We had about 45 attendees, and a hot but super sunny and windy day. Perfect crowd and weather for the Pavilion! Bill Cook, George Noyes and David Naumann did a brilliant job as […]
Brave CMCS pirates invaded Danger Island (aka Pelican Bay) over Memorial Day Weekend. Boats arriving on Friday were Alborada, Ambiance, Avanti, Between the Sheets, Bridget O’Toole, Four Seasons, Jolly Mon, Lazy Susan, Lionheart, Windswept and Zydeco. We kept 2 grills pretty busy at our grill night at the beach with lots of good food shared. […]
Drawing a line in the sand for both CLEAN WATER and CLEAN ENERGY – both impact our water quality here in Southwest Florida. Community support helped pass SB10, Governor Scott just signed Senate Bill 10 to clean, store and send Lake O discharges south to the Everglades. The Senate must now fully fund this so […]
Steve & Theresa on Lionheart hosted the Points South Cruise. 14 Tractors, Barefeet, Bridget O’Toole and Lionheart headed South. Lionheart went straight to Panther Key on Thursday. The remaining boats headed to Factory Bay at Marco Island on Thursday. Bridget O’Toole hosted a taco fiesta. Then on Friday, the rest of the boats made it […]
Well, once again we have proven that CMCS Members know how to have a good time! The Bloody Mary Brunch was held on May 7 at the CCYC Pavilion on a brilliant breezy day. Carol Pim & family provided the Bloodies with a slew of fabulous accoutrements, and the Liberty Ashore team cobbled together a […]
We had a fine evening for sailing the Jerry Pim Estebel Memorial. It has traditionally been a night race, and as Racing Commodore, I would have been in favor of running the race at night, but somehow it was moved to a 4:00 pm start prior to me being involved. I hope that next year, […]
We had the first of this year’s distance races on Sunday April 30th. The race started just outside of Redfish pass at the north tip of Captiva Island. All of the race boats managed to get up and on the water in time despite a great evening party as part of the San T’Weenie Cruise! […]
This weekend is a favorite of many CMCS cruisers and racers. The cruise starts on Friday and the race is held on Sunday. As with many events, surprises always enter into the mix. Cruise leaders Ian Davis and Elise Missall had full intentions of arriving by boat, but due to an engine problem discovered on […]
Hey Y’all! We just enjoyed a great Grill Night at the April Membership Meeting. We had approximately 50 attendees, and it seemed like a good time was had by all. Thanks to Bill Cook, Barry Long, Mike Ziegler and Tom Papia for keeping a super-hot fire going for the grilling – I know we got […]
Three CMCS boats headed out for secluded week long cruises, totally unbeknownst to each other. Interestingly enough, they all three wound up in the same anchorage – Panther Key! First to arrive was Freestyle, with Glen, Paula, & Annie. They came down from FMB, via stops in Chatney Bay and Smokehouse Bay. A couple hours […]
We had about sixty members come out for our monthly membership meeting and a nautical flea market sponsored by the Ladies’ Bridge Club.
The location is arguably the Society’s most popular cruising destination. The weather was ideal. The beaches were beautiful. Plus, each night we were treated to a serenade of bagpipe and conchs. Here’s the list of those who participated in this annual pilgrimage. Nineteen boats arrived on Friday, or sooner: 14 Tractors, Air Boss, Ambiance, Bridget […]
From our 2016 Summerset Regatta we had approximately $10,000 available to give back to the qualifying Youth Watersports Programs up and down the coast. Since 90% of the participants and sponsorships this past year came from our local area, 90% money goes back to the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area. The other 10% was divided up between Naples/Marco Island and Punta […]
We had fourteen boats arrive at Legacy Harbour Marina, located right downtown Fort Myers, where all the action was at for the fabulous Edison Festival of Lights celebration.
