Commodore’s Update

Commodore Jason Pim

2019 is marching on quickly! Good job to everyone who got out on a cruise, race or other- wise enjoyed the water recently. Thanks to the many hands that made our April Grill Night with Edison Sailing Center a success. It took a lot of coordination, but I think everyone agrees it was a fun night! If anyone is interested in heading up the July Picnic, we are looking for a volunteer for that event (you choose the location/format!).

Coming up we have the Bloody Mary Cruise, which is basically 2 nights of relaxation at Pink Shell sandwiching the Estebel “Sunset” Race Saturday afternoon/evening. This is one of the most easy/relaxed events you could ever wish for – so come on out and join us. Land lubbers are welcome to join (with RSVP) for brunch on Sunday morning.

Next up will be the Danger Island Cruise and then the Fort Myers-Tampa-Fort Myers race, with rumors there is an opportunity to keep your boat for FREE at Davis Island Yacht Club for a week.

On the board/leadership side of things, we were very busy in April:

  • Working on some new communications initiatives.
  • Chose to sponsor the “Big Calusa” event.
  • Continuing to work out how we can partner with Edison Sailing Center and other youth initiatives in the future.
  • Start planning for 2020 – CMCS’ 50th year and golden celebration!
