Danger Island Cruise
May 22 - May 25Free
Cruise Leaders: ???
You are about to enter the Mystical Waters of “DANGER ISLAND” located on the Sand Spit at the entrance to Pelican Bay.
Entry into Pelican Bay (See Pelican Bay Chart) is not particularly difficult, but caution is advised. Don’t cut corners unless you’re familiar with the anchorage! If this is your first time, CMCS boats all monitor channel 72, so, if you need help with directions, hail one of our members.
Please fly your CMCS Burgee, as we want to get to know of the new boats in the Club
Plan to arrive on Friday in time to attend Happy Hour that will be held on the Danger Island Sand Spit at 5:00 pm. Bring an appetizer. Immediately following Happy Hour, you can begin to prepare some BBQ on your propane or charcoal grill. Please also bring a dish to share.
If you don’t have a grill, someone will always share their’s..
Remember all events for the entire weekend will be held on the Sand Spit, not Dog Island.
Saturday Morning at 10:00 am, after breakfast on your boat, the Prestigious Black-Tie Croquet Tournament will begin. You must wear a tie, string, rope, scarf or anything black around your neck and is the #1 rule to participate in this event. You cannot play w/o it.
Saturday at 5:00 pm, THE CMCS GRAND CHOWDER CONTEST begins.
(Rules: Anything you deem as chowder is CHOWDER!!) The Chowder will be judged on Best Tasting and Best Presentation, so set up your decorated tables, dress up, play music, be unique and have fun! Votes will be with dollar bills so bring lots of cash! Proceeds will go to Friends of Cayo Costa State Park.
Sunday – Today is your day to relax and unwind. Cayo Costa has a beautiful beach on the gulf side. You can dinghy in to the dock and catch the tram over to the Gulf. There is a $2.00 fee for Cayo Costa State Park. A dinghy ride to Cabbage Key for lunch is another option, or just have some R & R on your boat.
At 5:00 pm, Surprise, Surprise yet another Happy Hour and snacks on the Danger Island Sand Spit. Before returning to our boats, a good clean-up of the area is greatly appreciated.
Monday Morning, weigh anchor for home, off to another adventure, or just stick around.
