May 1st: Melbourne Beach

2013-05-01 #2I love this new chartplotter! Plus, with Garmin’s Bluechart Mobile on my iPad (Garmin charts integrated with the Active Captain cruising guide), navigation and determining where you want to go is a piece of cake. I’ve still got paper charts (thank you Rick), and that old hand-bearing compass, but who wants to go there.

Today’s sail was non-Florida like. Overcast, the high was only 80-degrees, and this evening it’s raining. At least we had a light Easterly breezes today, and had the Genoa up almost the whole time.

We are anchored off Melbourne Beach’s town dock and park. Annie and I took a stroll over to A1A. It is a quaint little historic district. A sign claims that this is Florida’s oldest beach side community. You can imagine what it was like coming in to Melbourne Beach back in the 1880’s.2013-05-01 #1

Chef PJ came up with a fantastic salad with braised chicken breast and lots of other goodies for our dinner. Does it get much better than this?
