It was so peaceful in our snug little St. Michaels anchorage that we slept in until 8:30 this morning. It had been a nice cool night that was perfect for sleeping in. Annie and I got in our usual morning walk – today on St. Michaels’ pedestrian trail. Then we had a leisurely breakfast. And headed out on a nice easy sail over to Oxford, MD, which is also on the Eastern Shore. The cruising guide calls Oxford a “picture perfect” Eastern Shore village, and I think they are right.
We only had to go about 14-miles as the fish swims, and took a slip at Mears Yacht Haven. Once in awhile it is nice to wash down the boat, and refill the water tanks.
Once the chores were complete, and we got ourselves washed down, it was off to a local eatery called “Schooners”. Tonight was Fish Taco night, so all was good on the Tred Avon tonight (Tred Avon is the river where Oxford is located). Of coarse we had to eat at Schooners because there is a place back in Bloomington, Illinois we used to frequent with the same name. The Schooners in Oxford has a couple major advantages over Bloomington. First, it is actually located on a waterfront. Secondly, there is a little ice cream shop, with excellent locally made ice cream, conveniently located on the backside of the restaurant. Very very good. And yes, Annie got in a few licks.
It’s hard to believe what beautiful weather we’ve been having.
