Headless Halloween Cruise a Boo-tiful thing
Finally a nice weekend! Sea Change, Jack B, Sail La Vie, Trust Me, Sol Adventure, Blank Check, and Windy City were all able to find Southseas without a cruise leader. AND they were able to have fun without a cruise leader. While there was a sprinkle or two, on the whole, the weather was great- warm pool days and cool open the boat nights. The early arrivers spent Friday afternoon social distancing in the pool. The crowd assembled on Trust Me on Friday for happy hour. We were weak on social distancing and masks but strong on Rum sanitizer. All foraged on their own for dinner. Most boats did something to decorate and celebrate the holiday. On a whole though, things were toned down from previous years. That is not to say that we weren’t visited by a variety of characters and creatures when the sun started to set. Trust Me ran out of candy early (too much sampling). Jo had enough for all including Bobby. The crowd assembled on the deck by the ships store for Happy Hour and the quality on offer went up nicely on Saturday night. We were joined by O’Keefe’s who came by land. Diane Fowler fronted a big pot of Red Beans and Rice, Jo had BBQ sliders and Sea Change brought the real deli meat…… For some it was a meal and for others a jumping off point- Trust Me tried the beach taco stand and concluded you at least have to get to Doc Fords or go to town to find a real meal. Or like Sea Change – just bring your own meat for the grill.
We turned in and turned back the clocks. The extra hour was appreciated. And then they went home all by themselves…….
FWIW Southseas is obviously open but Harborside and a few other venues are still shut down. Talked with Charles and the current plan for December is to decorate but not have the usual activities. So lights but no S’mores. Kim
