1. Rules
1.1 This race is a fun race and is open to all.
2. Eligibility
2.1 Open to all sailors who are current members of the CMCS Sailing Club and, to non-member sailors from any area club with a mono-hull or multi-hull sailboat that conforms to class rules and holds a valid West Florida PHRF certificate.
NOTE: If a boat does not have a valid WFPHRF, the rear commodore of racing will assign a rating. This rating will not be subject to address.
2.2 The owner of each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $300,000 per incident or the equivalent.
3. Entry and Fees
3.1 There is no entry fee for this race!
3.2 Any NEW entrant (has not sailed with CMCS before) must complete the official entry form found online at www.cmcs-sail.org or click the REGISTER button on this page. This is to ensure we have the correct information to communicate withyou and add your boat to the scratch sheet.
3.3 IMPORTANT - There will be an email distributed one week before the race that will go to all skippers. You must respond to that email with your intent to participate to ensure we can organize the scratch sheet. Please respond either way.
4. Divisions
4.1 Divisions will be PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non-spinnaker, PHRF True Cruising, and PHRF Multihull. The race committee may divide or combine divisions based on the number of entries.
5. Starting and Racing Area
5.1 This is a distance race from marker 1 near Ft. Myers Beach to SC then west following the gulf coast of Sanibel and Captiva islands to the Green 1 marker near Redfish Pass.
5.2 Inflatable marks and fixed government marks may be used. Courses and fixed marks will be shown in the sailing instructions.
6. Sailing Instructions
6.1 The sailing instructions will be communicated by email to entrants.
7. Scoring
7.1 PHRF handicaps will apply and be scored time-on-distance; RLC ratings shall apply.
8. Radio Communication
8.1 All boats must be equipped with a working VHF radio, either fixed or handheld capable of receiving and sending on VHF channels 16 and 72. The Race committee will monitor and broadcast information on channel 72.
8.2 All boats are strongly encouraged to carry a cell phone.
9. Schedule
9.1 Saturday, September 11, 10:00 A.M Start near marker 1 Ft. Myers Beach.
9.2 No make-up races shall be scheduled for any races abandoned or canceled.
