The New Year’s Eve Celebration is actually the end of what used to be called “The Christmas Cruise.” It is an unstructured time.  Lots of socializing for those who want that.  Some people show up at Pelican Harbor on December 26.  The cruise is a destination cruise, so only New Year’s Eve counts for the Cruising Award…and it’s on next year’s award.

Pelican is a good anchorage and most boats can tuck in if there is a norther…or go around to School House Bay (aka Hurricane Hole).  Cayo Costa State Park is a great place to meander around in a dink or go to the beach.  There is a $2/day/per person shore fee payable at the honor box or you can pay at the office if you don’t have change.

Some go straight from home port to Burnt Store, while others base out of Pelican with side trips to places like Don Pedro State Park.  It’s an easy all weather jaunt to anywhere.  Waters are sheltered and not deep.

We are returning to Burnt Store Marina this year for New Years.  Burnt Store is now owned by Safe Harbor.  We keep our boat at another of their marinas and are very impressed with the corporation in charge.   To my delight, I’m going to tell you that this is going to be the best deal ever for boaters.  What a way to bring in the New Year!

We will have full use of the facilities.  They have a pool, deli/ship’s store, restaurant, bar, and showers.  Because we are coming as a Club, we also have exclusive use of the Chickee.  So, we have a “place” for our festivities.  There’s a Dollar store right outside the development’s gate in case you run out of something!

Here is why you are getting this so early.  We have a limited number of slips available.  IF we go over that number before November 30, we can increase the number reserved for us.  After that time, people are on their own….AND I can’t guarantee our special pricing.

When I found out the price, I asked the dockmaster to pencil in 2 nights.  30-31st.

Here are the prices:

$2 per foot- minimum 30’.

$5 per day for electric-  either 30 or 50amp

That’s it.  NO additional fees…oh, well there’s the sales tax of course!

In order to get the special rate, you must reserve through me. (sorry this sounds like a late night –“but wait, there’s more!”

Days you want to stay-  If you come for the 2 nights, then you get to goof around for a day!  Your option of course. You may come earlier and/or stay later.

For those who aren’t boating and want to drive up, parking is free and near the marina.  Please register for the event as usual but be sure to include the number of "Land Cruisers" in your party.  We are going to have the usual appetizer hour about 5 PM.  It will morph into a potluck dinner.  The restaurant and bar at the marina will be in full swing.

Please bring an appetizer and a pot luck dish.  Both should feed 6-8 people.  If you are bringing guests,  please increase the amount you bring to reflect those people.
