Bloody Mary Cruise, Brunch & Jerry Pim Memorial Estebel Race or “BMCBJPMER”

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The last day to register for the Brunch is May 12.

Friday, May 13 to Sunday May 15, 2022

This is an annual event that combines cruising at the Pink Shell and a “Fun Race” in the Gulf.

In honor of this year’s Commodore, Bob Lee, it is officially the “Year of the Pirate”

Friday:

The cruise starts at the Pink Shell. Carol Pim has reserved a limited number of slips. Please make your own arrangements with the Dock master, (855) 482-1947.

There is not any official event Friday afternoon, happy hour at 5, bring your own drinks and an appetizer to share. Dinner is on your own.

Saturday:

Enjoy the Pink Shell Beach until early afternoon.

The “Fun Race” starting line will be set up around Green Marker #3 just outside of Matanzas Pass Entrance.

The course will be determined by the wind direction and announced on VHF channel 72.

The start window will begin at 3:45 and go to 4:00. That means you can cross the Start line anytime in that window and that will be your official start time. In keeping with “Pirates don’t sail to weather” all legs will be a reach. All crews and ships are encouraged to be in full Pirate dress. No rating certificates are needed, just show up, have fun and we will assign you a class and a handicap. Even Trawlers are welcome, I will invent a class and rating if you show up. There is no entry fee. Bill and Mary will be defending the coveted “Red Caboose Trophy” from last year.

Dinner is on your own after the race.

Yes, there will be awards Sunday Morning at the brunch.

Don’t have a boat? No problem matey,

Joel Andrews (past CMCS Vice Commodore of Racing) has a sailing catamaran charter business at Ft Myers Beach. He has agreed to join the race and you can purchase a spot with him.

Go to https://www.copaceticsailing.com/  and click on “Sunset Sail”, then May 14. You can find all the details there. Captain Joel will get you in the action without spilling your rum.

Sunday:

Wear your finest pirate finery or your worst sailor rags. Sally forth from your humble vessel or ramble down in your vintage roadster to the Pink Shell garden for the Bloody Mary Brunch with dainties and munchies to tantalize your taste buds.

Liquid refreshments will include Bloody Marys and Pirate Grog.

9 AM will see you seated in your bag chair and umbrella, awaiting this sumptuous repast. Don’t be too fashionably late, lest the delectables melt in the morning heat wave. Racers need to register all crew for their free booty. Other revelers owe $5/body, costumed or otherwise. Place your booty in the Treasure Chest at the brunch.
